Clipping for a Cause Inc. was created to combine two passions: saving money by couponing and helping those in need. Our mission is to help the needy by combining coupons with current sales to purchase free or nearly free items to stock the shelves of local food banks and homeless shelters. To date, the Atlanta chapter alone has saved $30,718.90 and only spent $4,952.91 out of pocket! That's like paying $0.13 per item. Since March of 2010, our chapter has donated 37,351 items to local charities. Please visit the "chapters" tab to learn more about different states that have become involved with this effort since our launch two years ago!
How it Works: Church members and other individuals generously donate their unused coupon inserts that are included in their Sunday papers. From there, our ministry meets every Wednesday night to clip only the items that will be free or nearly free after coupon. After collecting all of the coupons needed for that week, our shoppers go out to different stores to purchase the items. Depending on the current needs of various organizations, we then divide the items and deliver them on a weekly basis to one of several different locations. Visit the "Who We Help" tab for more information about these organizations.
We Also Organize Mobile Food Drives. The concept is simple: Neighbors and community members are asked to place one bag of non-perishable items outside of their door to be picked up and delivered for them. Ministry members volunteer to pick-up the canned goods and deliver them to local charities. Our biggest mobile food drive effort takes place around Valentine's Day. Each year, we organize a "Love Thy Neighbor" Drive. What a simple way to give from the heart and "show the love!" In 2012, thanks to many volunteers and an unbelievable response, over 11,000 items were collected from this drive alone!!
